Little Brother wins Honourable Mention at Nashville Film Festival

Serik Aprymov’s Little Brother (Bauyr) has received an Honorable Mention at the 45th Nashville Film Festival (NaFF) in the United States, Tengrinews reports citing the official website of the festival.


Serik Aprymov’s Little Brother (Bauyr) has received an Honorable Mention at the 45th Nashville Film Festival (NaFF) in the United States, Tengrinews reports citing the official website of the festival.

The Kazakhstani film premiered in the Horizons section of the 70th Venice Film Festival. Later, Bauyr received kudos at the 9th International Eurasia Film Festival in Kazakhstan. In the fall of 2013, the film took part in the Viennale Film Festival in Austria. Aprymov's film also won an award at the Central and Eastern Europe film Festival goEast from the German Federal Foreign Office.

The festival took place from April 17th to 26th. A Mexican film - Club Sanwich by Fernando Eimbcke - took the Grand Jury Prize.

The Festival was founded in in 1969 by Mary Jane Coleman, and NaFF was originally known as the Sinking Creek Film Celebration. The festival is “proud to bring the world to Nashville through a celebration of the diversity of the human spirit expressed through the art of film”, the way the organizers describe it. Over 200 films from over 40 countries are presented at NaFF every year.
