Baikadamov’s Choir Capella performed on the stage of Zhambyl Philharmonic Hall on March 20, Tengrinews reports.

The highlight of the night was the choir conductor Kerstin Behnke from the German Berliner Cappella. Kazakhstan’s Beimbet Demeuov conducted the performance along with Behnke.

The program included pieces by Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns, Gabriel Urbain Fauré and Felix Mendelssohn.

Kerstin Behnke works with Kammersymphonie Berlin, Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg, the Brandenburger Symphoniker, and the Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester, Markells Voices and Rias-Kammerchor. Behnke also teaches at Musikhochschule Lübeck.

Behnke is famous for her interest in the revival of long forgotten works of composers from various time periods. In particular, the conductor is interested in female composers. Behnke brought “Spectre’s Bride“ musical treasure by Antonin Dvorak to the stage of the Berlin Philharmonic in a tremendous performance of a symphony orchestra, three concert choirs and talented soloists.

It was not the first time that the conductor worked with Zhambyl’s Phillarmony in Almaty. On December 5-7 2013, Behnke presented Famous Men - Strong Women concert.
