Kazakhstan-born young singer Dimash Kudaibergenov has won the Grand Prix of the 24th International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar 2015 held on July 9-13 in Vitebsk, Belarus, Tengrinews reports.

In the two-day competition, 21-year-old Aktobe native earned 175 points.

According to the rules of the competition, on the first day of the final the participants sing songs of Slavonic singers accompanied by an orchestra, while on the second day all 15 finalists perform world hits.

For the first day Dimash chose the song of Russian popular singer Valery Meladze called Blizzard Again, while on the second day he sang Grégory Lemarchal's SOS D'Un Terrien En Détresse.

Apart from the award, Dimash Kudaibergenov also received a cash prize of $20,000.

"Honestly, I dreamed about this contest since I was a child. I am really happy that everything turned out like that. Today the most important for young talents is the support the get. One cannot accomplish much with just talent alone," he said at the press conference after the event.

The young Kazakh singer is a student of Astana-based Kazakh National University of Arts. His vocal range is 4.5 octaves, which is very impressive.

He has been singing since his childhood thanks to his parents - Kanat Aitbayev and Svetlana Aitbayeva - who are also well-known musicians in Aktobe, a city in western Kazakhstan. They attend every competition of their son and according to Dimash, his win in Vitebsk was their merit.

Indeed, Slavianski Bazaar was not the first big competition for Dimash. He had participated in many different contests before. Dimash is the winner of International Pop Music Festival Meikin Asia and International Festival Vostochniy Bazaar.

The first place at the contest in Vitebsk went to the singer from Belarus Valeriya Gribusova, who earned 171 points. Bulgarian singer Nikolay Manolov hauled the second place, while Ukrainian Anna Tverdostup won the third place.

The International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk is an annual festival held in Vitebsk, Belarus under the auspices of the Belarus Government since 1992. It is devoted to Slavic music. The main participants are singers from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, countries of the former Yugoslavia, Poland and Bulgaria with guests from many other countries, both Slavic and non-Slavic. It became a member of the International Federation of Festival Organizations (FIDOF) in 1998.
