Tengrinews.kz - New rules prohibiting riding mopeds without a driver's license and license plates will come into effect in Kazakhstan in the spring of 2025. In connection with this, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed corresponding amendments to the rules for state registration of mopeds.
To register a moped, the driver will need to visit a specialized Public Service Center and provide:
- identity card or its electronic version;
- documents confirming payment of registration fees and state duties in accordance with Articles 553 and 615 of the Tax Code;
- the moped's technical document, if available, or information about its characteristics from open sources;
- a statement from the vehicle owner;
- a vehicle inspection report.
If the moped lacks a frame number, an identification number will be assigned by the authorized body at the owner's request before registration procedures.
According to the amendments, documents proving ownership of the moped will not be required for registration.
Earlier, Igor Lepekha, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, discussed the potential ban on e-scooters in Kazakhstan.
