Tengrinews.kz – A viral post in Kaznet claimed that traffic cameras would begin issuing fines for driving faster than 66 km/h. The Interior Ministry has dismissed the message as false.
The warning was published on Threads:
“Drivers, attention! Starting tonight (after 00:00) cameras will fine you already from 66 km/h. I always drive 68–69. Even if you go 68 or 70 — the fine of 19,000 tenge will be issued automatically. Be careful, don’t feed the system with extra money,” the author wrote.
The post sparked debate in the comments, with some users doubting the claim and others taking it seriously.
Interior Ministry response
The Interior Ministry officially denied the rumor.
“The circulated message about a ‘maximum permissible speed of 66 km/h after midnight’ is fake. No such changes have been introduced. Within populated areas, the speed limit for passenger cars remains 60 km/h. Cameras begin recording violations only from 70 km/h and above,” the ministry said.
Officials also urged the public not to trust “unverified messages and to rely on official information only”.
