Tengrinews.kz - A power outage disrupted operations at border checkpoints in the Turkestan region, leading to a buildup of vehicles, according to the Committee of State Revenues (KGR).
The KGR referred to the emergency situation at electrical substations in Turkestan, which occurred on October 15, affecting electricity supply in the Maktaaral and Keles districts. This, in turn, impacted the functionality of the "Atameken" and "B. Konysbaev" checkpoints.
"Since the power outage, communication at the customs posts has been intermittent, hindering customs clearance processes and the integrated control system, including the electronic queue. This caused a halt in vehicle movement in both directions, resulting in traffic congestion at the border crossings," the KGR statement explained.
The committee noted that measures have been taken to quickly address the situation.
"The checkpoints are now operating in an enhanced mode with additional staff from other shifts. Considering the checkpoint's capacity of up to 1,000 vehicles in both directions, we expect the issue to be resolved shortly," the KGR added.
