Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s police have switched to an enhanced mode of operation following a rise in fatal road accidents, citing Polisia.kz.
From 18 to 23 November, the country is conducting the “Safe Road” preventive operation aimed at reducing traffic accidents and preventing further casualties.
According to the Interior Ministry, the initiative was launched after a series of serious crashes that resulted in multiple deaths.
“During these days, patrol routes and the number of deployed officers will be increased. Road inspections will be intensified on regional and district routes, where a 31 percent rise in road fatalities has been recorded this year,” the ministry said.
Police will strengthen control over speeding, dangerous overtaking, and driving into oncoming lanes. Checks on illegal carriers and unlicensed taxi services will also be stepped up.
In populated areas, officers will conduct targeted measures to prevent pedestrian collisions. Road inspectors will carry out daily monitoring of road conditions, with special attention to sections undergoing repair or reconstruction.
Police urge all road users to strictly follow traffic rules, remain attentive, and show mutual respect on the road.
“Everyone’s safety depends on the discipline and responsibility of all road users,” the statement said.
