Tengrinews.kz - A tiger attacked and killed an elderly farmer in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The body of the mangled man was found by his sons in a forest.

According to The Times of India, 60-year-old Mohankar went fishing in the afternoon and was planning to head to his farm afterward. When he did not return home by evening, his sons raised the alarm. They sought help from villagers and together they began searching for their father.

Around 11:00 p.m., the group came across the partially devoured and mangled body of the man. It was later confirmed that the victim was Mohankar. He became the 41st person killed by wild animals in the state.

Local residents have blamed forest department officials, accusing them of being aware of the presence of tigers and leopards in the area but failing to take appropriate measures.

According to official statistics, in the 2022-2023 period, 111 people in Maharashtra were killed due to wild animal attacks, with 81 fatalities resulting from tiger attacks, 18 from leopard attacks, and 12 from other animals.

Previously, a German tourist fell victim to a shark attack at a popular beach in Thailand.
