Tengrinews.kz - A week of national mourning has been declared in Myanmar, according to the media.
The mourning was announced by Myanmar Prime Minister Min Aung Hlaing.
"In connection with the human losses, the days from March 31 to April 6 have been declared mourning at the national level," the Prime Minister of Myanmar said.
The Chairman of the State Administrative Council of Myanmar, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that in recognition and condolences in connection with the damage and loss of life as a result of the earthquake, "the national flag will be lowered during the days of national mourning."
There are currently more than 2 thousand dead as a result of the earthquake. 3.9 thousand people were injured, and about 270 more are missing.
Let us recall that the first earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 occurred in Myanmar on March 28 at 12:50 PM local time (11:20 AM Astana time) in the central part of the country and caused destruction throughout its territory. The epicenter was approximately 17 kilometers from Mandalay, the second largest city in the country, where 1.5 million people live.
On March 29, another earthquake occurred in Myanmar. Tremors with a magnitude of 5.1 were recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers less than half an hour ago. The epicenter is two kilometers from the capital, Naypyidaw.
Earthquakes were felt in Thailand as well. As previously reported, the earthquake's epicenter was located in neighboring Myanmar. The tremors in Thailand’s capital were so strong that water spilled from rooftop pools, and a high-rise under construction collapsed.
