Tengrinews.kz - Concerns have been raised online regarding alarming news from Malaysia: a Kazakh tourist is reportedly missing after a possible incident at a popular resort. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has responded to these claims.

According to information circulating online, a Kazakh tourist is allegedly being searched for after possibly drowning at one of the beaches in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. Local media reported that the incident occurred on the morning of September 5 near the resort's beach.

Seven rescuers began searching for the tourist after receiving a distress call at 8:19 a.m., according to reports.

"It’s unclear whether the man went swimming and became unwell or if something else caused the incident," the report stated.

When reached for comment, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Aibek Smadiyarov, denied the reports of the man's death.

"The Kazakh tourist is alive and well, and there is no cause for concern," he said.
