Spanish poet Justo Jorge Padron’s poignant The Circles of Hell has been translated into the Kazakh language, Tengrinews reports citing the Spanish Embassy in Kazakhstan.
The bilingual edition of The Circles of HeIl is the first Spanish book translated into Kazakh. Padron’s powerful collection was translated by a Kazakh poet Tanakoz Tolkynkyzy. Previously, the poetry collection was translated into 30 languages.
Padron addresses fear, love, loss and loneliness among other broad topic in his poetry. The book received the Fastenrath award by the Spanish Royal Academy of Language and the Biannual Award to the Best European Poetry Book by the Swedish Writers Association for the period 1975-1976.
The Circles of Hells in Kazakh was presented on April 30 at the Hall of the First President of Kazakhstan, at the Eurasian National University in Astana. Padron attended the presentation of the Kazakh translation along with the translator Tolkynkyzy and Ambassador of Spain in Kazakhstan.
