Librarians of the Abai Library in Semey have decided to foster love for reading through free eBooks, Tengrinews reports.

As a part of the Reading Semey campaign, the librarians placed posters with QR codes for eBooks in the streets of the city. So now books are available literally on the go.

The librarians helped readers with installing apps needed to use the QR codes. Now everyone who has an app can download an eBook for free by scanning a code with a camera on a smartphone or tablet.

There are only 16 books available so now, but librarians promise to expand the free eBook collection. Among available books are novels written by Kazakh writers such as Abai, Azilkhan Nurshaikhov, Mukagali Makatayev, Zhusupbek Aitmautov, Bokei Oralkhan, and a number of foreign novelists such as Stephen King, Danielle Steel, Jack London and others.

“Those books have high reading rating in our library,” the librarian explained.
