Tengrinews.kz - In the Maldives, a diver unexpectedly became the unwitting hero of the film "Jaws." When he dived into the water, a large shark suddenly appeared, almost biting off his head. The attack was caught on video, according to the Daily Mail.

The footage shows how the sea predator swims up to the diver and in a matter of seconds closes its jaw on the swimmer's head. The man managed to escape, after which he was quickly pulled out of the water.

According to Samudra Maldives, the Maldives is known for its white sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and coral reefs, but there are also about 30 species of sharks living here.

These include scalloped hammerheads, tiger sharks, whale sharks, and gray reef sharks - it is not yet clear which species of shark appeared in the footage.

"Most sharks near Maldives are friendly, and incidents of shark attacks are rare. But encounters with Maldives tiger sharks and nurse sharks might turn deadly if precautions aren’t taken," experts say.
