Zelensky responds when he is ready to leave the presidency

Tengrinews.kz – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that he does not intend to lead the country in peacetime, citing RBC-Ukraine.

The outlet quotes excerpts from his interview with the Axios portal.

“My goal is to finish the war, not to continue running for office,” he said.

Zelensky also promised to appeal to Ukraine's parliament with a request to organize elections if a ceasefire is reached.

However, he believes that the current security situation and Ukraine’s Constitution pose certain challenges.

The outlet recalled that under martial law in Ukraine, it is theoretically possible to hold extraordinary presidential and parliamentary elections, but organizing voting during wartime poses significant risks to political stability.

The main issue lies in the lack of guarantees for voter safety, as shelling continues across the country.
