According to the UN press service, Guterres landed in Almaty on the morning of July 3. He was welcomed by Kazakhstan's First Deputy Foreign Minister Akan Rakhmetullin, Kazakhstan's Permanent Representative to the UN Kairat Umarov, and the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan, Michaela Friberg-Storey.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan confirmed that Guterres will visit the UN office in Almaty during his stay.

On July 4, Guterres is scheduled to travel to Astana to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
