Tengrinews.kz – The aircraft carrying U.S. President Donald Trump narrowly avoided a potential emergency situation during a flight to the United Kingdom, according to Business Insider.

Trump was en route to the UK aboard his personal Boeing aircraft, Air Force One. While flying over Long Island, the presidential plane nearly collided with a Spirit Airlines passenger jet. The incident occurred about 30 minutes after takeoff from Joint Base Andrews.

“President Donald Trump was traveling to the UK on Tuesday for a state visit when the incident occurred. Almost 30 minutes after taking off from Joint Base Andrews, the presidential jet was flying over Long Island, New York. At the same time, Spirit Airlines Flight 1300 was also flying in the area, taking passengers from Fort Lauderdale to Boston. As the Airbus A321 flew toward Air Force One, an air traffic controller intervened. The controller can be heard growing impatient and raising his voice, directing the pilots four times before they respond,” the report said.

According to aviation authorities, the flight paths of the two planes intersected over the Long Island Sound. The aircraft missed each other by approximately one minute, with the passenger plane flying at an altitude about 2.7 kilometers lower than Air Force One.

Spirit Airlines later stated that the flight was conducted in accordance with standard procedures, and the plane safely landed in Boston.

Air Force One arrived later that evening at Stansted Airport near London. President Trump stayed at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence, and the following day met with King Charles III.
