Tengrinews.kz - Israel has carried out its deadliest strike on Lebanon since the war with Hezbollah, which began 20 years ago. Thousands of Lebanese have fled their homes in the south of the country and headed towards Syria. The death toll in Lebanon has surpassed 500, according to NBC.
In the afternoon of September 24, Israel launched another airstrike on Beirut. Lebanon Ministry of Health reported that nearly 560 people have been dead. It is unclear how many of the victims were terrorists. Around two thousand people were injured.
This is the deadliest Israeli bombing since the 34-day war with Hezbollah in 2006.
The target of the IDF's strike on Beirut was the commander of Hezbollah's missile division. His fate is currently unknown, according to The Times of Israel, citing military sources.
Hezbollah militants stated that on the night of September 24 and the following morning, they launched rocket attacks on eight targets in Israel, including an explosives factory in the city of Zichron Yaakov, located 60 kilometers from the Lebanese border.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military declared that they would act "with full force" as Hezbollah launched a new barrage of fire across the border. Experts warn that the conflict could escalate into a full-scale regional war.
Washington was preparing to deploy troops to assist in the evacuation of Americans, and dozens of international flights to Lebanon were canceled.
The sudden escalation has caused traffic jams on the roads. According to the UN Refugee Agency, as of Tuesday, tens of thousands of people have fled their homes in the region.
Sandwiches for our refugees stuck on the roads for more than 12 hours and counting today. Thank you to every Lebanese who has stepped up to help during this time. You are the true face of Lebanon. pic.twitter.com/0YpePYRGQK

On Tuesday, UNICEF warned that "any further escalation of this conflict will have catastrophic consequences" for children and families in Lebanon, which is already "devastated by a prolonged economic and political crisis, the powerful explosion at the Beirut port," as well as the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier, IDF Chief of the General Staff, Herzi Halevi, announced that the military operation in Lebanon had been given the code name "Northern Arrows". In turn, Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reported the expansion of the operation against Hezbollah targets across the entire territory of Lebanon.
It should be recalled that on September 17 and 18, communication devices, including pagers and radios, detonated in different areas of Lebanon. According to official data, 37 people were killed, and more than three thousand were injured, the vast majority of whom were Hezbollah members. Later, Israeli President Isaac Herzog denied Israel's involvement in the explosions of Hezbollah pagers in Lebanon. He stated that Israel is not interested in a war with Lebanon.
Additionally, on the morning of Monday, September 23, Israeli fighter jets and drones struck more than 1,100 targets associated with Hezbollah in Lebanon, using over 1,400 munitions.
