Tengrinews.kz - A gold deposit with reserves exceeding 1,000 tons has been discovered in China, according to Xinhua News Agency.

In Hunan Province, located in Central China, geologists have uncovered a massive gold deposit. More than 40 gold-bearing veins with reserves of 300 tons of gold were found at a depth of 2,000 meters beneath the Wangu deposit in Pingjiang County.

Reserves at a depth of 3,000 meters amount to 1,000 tons of gold, valued at 600 billion yuan (approximately $83 billion).

"Visible gold was found on many drilled rock cores. A ton of ore at a depth of 2,000 meters contained up to 138 grams of gold," said ore exploration expert Chen Zhulin.

Deputy Director of the Geological Bureau Liu Yongjun stated that advanced exploration technologies, such as 3D geological modeling, were used at the Wangu deposit. Gold was also discovered during drilling in peripheral zones of the site, opening up promising opportunities.

It is worth noting that the current global gold price stands at $2,687 per troy ounce.
