Tengrinews.kz – Renowned Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani has passed away at the age of 91, according to Italian media reports.
“With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani,” the Armani Group said in a statement.
Armani, an iconic Italian designer, was born on July 11, 1934, in Piacenza, Italy. In 1975, together with his partner Sergio Galeotti, he founded the Armani fashion house, which became famous for its elegant suits and minimalist style, setting a new standard in fashion. The brand later expanded into clothing, accessories, perfume, and even luxury hotels. Armani dressed countless celebrities and designed costumes for films such as American Gigolo.
“I was the first to soften the image of men, and harden the image of women. It was a new perspective on style,” Armani said in one interview.
“Fashion is serious work — and at the same time, beautiful,” the designer noted, explaining his approach to the profession.
The legendary designer's net worth is estimated at $7 to $9 billion, including luxury real estate, yachts, and other assets.
