Plane crashes in India: no Kazakh citizens among passenger list

Tengrinews.kz – Air India, the airline that owned the Boeing 787 which crashed in India, has released information about the passengers on board.

Air India confirmed that flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed shortly after takeoff.

"The flight, which departed from Ahmedabad at 1338 hrs, was carrying 242 passengers and crew members on board the Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Of these, 169 are Indian nationals, 53 are British nationals, 1 Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals," the statement said.

Meanwhile, local media report that at least 110 people died in the crash.

As a reminder, on June 12, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by Air India, en route from Ahmedabad to London, crashed shortly after takeoff.

According to media reports, the aircraft crashed into a dormitory for doctors near the airport. Before the crash, the Boeing issued a Mayday distress signal. The captain had 8,200 flight hours, and the co-pilot had 1,100.
