Tengrinews.kz — Global oil prices rose sharply amid renewed U.S. strikes on Iran and the revocation of a license for the sale of Iranian oil.

According to ICE.com, September futures for the benchmark Brent crude blend rose by 2.75 percent, reaching $76.5 per barrel at the peak of the price increase.

The sharp jump in quotations came after the U.S. military carried out a series of strikes on Iranian facilities in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz on July 7.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury also revoked a license that allowed Tehran to sell its oil on the global market.
