A paradise island resort in the Central American country of Belize in the Caribbean has been shaken by tragedy. The bodies of three women—23-year-old Kaoutar Naqqad, 24-year-old Imane Mallah, and 26-year-old Wafae El-Arar—were discovered at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye island. The three American women of Moroccan descent were found dead in their hotel room.
Resort staff had repeatedly tried to contact them on Friday after surveillance footage showed them entering their room on Thursday evening and not leaving for an entire day.

The women were found with foam around their mouths, suggesting a possible drug overdose. However, the exact cause of death remains unconfirmed.
"The police did a thorough search of the scene, along with the pathologists and scenes of crime. There was nothing of substance that could have been found other than alcohol and some gummies. We're not saying at this time that the gummies cause death, but we're looking at every possibility," Police Commissioner Chester Williams told reporters on Monday.
Authorities reported finding no signs of forced entry or visible injuries. Inside the women's bathroom, police discovered snacks, liquids, vapes, and other electronic devices.
"We're trying to do as best as we can, including to see where they may have gone on Thursday before they went home, what if anything they consumed. All these things we're looking at," Williams added.
