Tengrinews.kz - Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the airstrike on the residence of the UAE diplomatic mission head in Sudan.
The ministry strongly condemned the airstrike that occurred on September 29, 2024, targeting the residence of the UAE ambassador in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan.
"We consider any act of violence against diplomatic missions and their personnel to be absolutely unacceptable," the foreign ministry stated.
The ministry emphasized that such actions "violate the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic missions, guaranteed by Article 22 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961, and require a thorough investigation with all those involved held accountable."
Earlier, the UAE Foreign Ministry reported that a regular Sudanese army aircraft attacked the UAE ambassador's residence in Khartoum, causing "significant damage" to the building.
The political situation in Sudan sharply deteriorated in the spring of 2023, following serious disagreements between the de facto head of state, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who leads the Sovereign Council, and the leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
