Tengrinews.kz – U.S. President Donald Trump has announced one of his initiatives to attract immigrants to the country: the so-called "gold card," similar to the green card (a U.S. permanent residence permit).
On Tuesday, for the first time in his second term as president, the American leader is addressing both chambers of the U.S. Congress.
According to Voice of America, Trump explained that he plans to introduce "gold cards" soon for those who can pay $5 million for the right to obtain U.S. residency.
The "gold card" program may replace the current investor immigration program.
"It's like the green card, but better and more sophisticated," Trump said. "These people will have to pay tax in our country."

As a reminder, while speaking to journalists in the Oval Office on February 25, Trump announced that the U.S. would soon begin selling so-called gold cards, which grant the right to live and work in America and pave the way for U.S. citizenship. At that time, he stated that he expected to sell millions of such cards. According to him, this would be completely legal.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick clarified that the golden card will replace the government’s EB-5 immigration visa program. At the same time, the current U.S. EB-5 visa program for foreign investors will be discontinued, the Trump administration noted.
