Tengrinews.kz – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan has published updated entry requirements for Kazakh citizens traveling to Egypt, Latvia, Mexico, and Russia.
Latvia: Registration 48 hours before travel
Starting September 1, 2025, Kazakh citizens without a Latvian residence permit or national visa must complete an online registration form at eta.gov.lv no later than 48 hours before entering the country.
The form requires travelers to indicate:
- Purpose of travel;
- Dates and place of stay;
- Route and contact details;
- Information about any service in government or law enforcement agencies by the traveler or close relatives.
Providing false or incomplete information is punishable by a fine of up to €2,000 (1.2 million tenge).
According to the Kazakh MFA, diplomats and individuals traveling on official missions to embassies are exempt. After submitting the form, travelers receive a confirmation by email.
Egypt: Restrictions for minors
From October 1, 2025, Egypt has changed its visa rules for Kazakh citizens.
Now, individuals under 21 will not be allowed to enter the country without being accompanied by at least one parent.
Adult Kazakhstanis can obtain a visa on arrival only at the international airport of Sharm El-Sheikh, and only if their trip lasts no more than 15 days and is limited to the resort area.
For travel to other cities — including Cairo and Hurghada — a visa must be obtained in advance from the Embassy of Egypt in Kazakhstan.
Mexico: Visa-free entry with conditions
Kazakh citizens may enter Mexico without a visa if they hold a valid multiple-entry visa for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, or any Schengen country.
They may stay in Mexico for up to 180 days for tourism, business, or transit purposes, provided they do not engage in paid work.
If travelers do not hold any of the listed visas, they must apply for a Mexican visa in advance at the consulate.
Russia: Pilot program with biometrics and an app
Russia launched an experimental entry-exit system for foreign nationals at the end of 2024.
During the first phase (until June 30, 2026), biometric data collection is conducted at Moscow’s airports — Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky — and at the Mashtakovo border crossing in Orenburg Region.
From the second phase, starting June 30, 2025, foreign travelers will be asked to submit information about their trip and purpose of stay via the ruID mobile app at least 72 hours before entry.
Currently, participation is voluntary, and Kazakh citizens can still cross the border without using the app.
The experiment does not apply to diplomats, employees of international organizations, or children under six years old.
Earlier, it was reported that Kazakhstan and the European Union plan to sign an agreement on mutual visa facilitation.
The EU member states have approved the negotiation mandate and granted it to the European Commission.
The negotiations will cover measures such as:
- Shorter visa processing times;
- Fewer required documents;
- Lower visa fees;
- Easier access to multiple-entry visas with longer validity and preferential categories for applicants.
