Tengrinews.kz – Famous Irish fighter and former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor has announced that he is running for President of Ireland.
A corresponding video address was posted on social media. McGregor spoke to the Irish people standing outside the office of the Irish Prime Minister.
“As President, I will not sign any bill into law until it goes back to the people first! If you want to see my name on the ballot for the Presidency, I urge you to contact your local county councillors today and ask them to nominate me,” said McGregor.
He noted that for over 200 days, the government has been in the process of formation, and during this time it has “cost us peace of mind, safety, hope for the future, and the overall well-being of Irish citizens across the country has drastically declined.”
McGregor drew attention to the “unprecedented rise” in the number of homeless Irish children, which he believes is a clear sign of the government's failure to uphold the national promise that all children of Ireland should be cared for.
The athlete also mentioned the mass influx of migrants into an already overburdened system, a decline in tourism, and growing danger on the streets.
Citizens of Ireland, the time for real change is now!
