Ankara aims to strengthen its global influence and establish new connections beyond those with Western countries. Meanwhile, Turkey intends to fulfill its obligations as a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.

"Commenting on Ankara’s desire to join BRICS, sources indicate that this move is also driven by disagreements with other NATO members due to official Ankara's close ties with Moscow since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022," the article states.

Additionally, observers point out that Turkey is disappointed that it has not become a member of the European Union.

BRICS was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India, and China. In 2011, South Africa joined the group.
