Tengrinews.kz - Shots were fired near Donald Trump as he was leaving his golf club in Florida. American media have named the individual detained on suspicion of attempting to assassinate presidential candidate Donald Trump and have found his social media posts.

The New York Post reports that former President Donald Trump narrowly escaped another assassination attempt on Sunday when a man, armed with a scoped AK-47, came within a few hundred yards of him while he was playing golf at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida. This marks the second time in two months that an individual with an assault rifle has attempted to take the life of the 45th president.

After the accident, Trump said he was alive and safe on social media X.

"There were gunshots in my vicinity but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!" he wrote.

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris condemned the attempted assassination of presidential candidate Donald Trump.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced that federal authorities are investigating a possible attempt on Donald Trump's life. The suspect is already in custody. Biden praised the work of the U.S. Secret Service in ensuring the safety of the former president and his entourage.

"I am relieved that the former President is unharmed. There is an active investigation into this incident as law enforcement gathers more details about what happened. As I have said many times, there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country," Biden stated.

Trump's rival in the upcoming election, Vice President Kamala Harris, also expressed deep concern about the possible attempt on the Republican candidate.

"I condemn political violence. We all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more to violence. I am thankful that former President Trump is safe. I commend the U.S. Secret Service and law enforcement partners for their vigilance," Harris said.

Recently, Fox News reported, citing its sources, that the suspect in the attempted assassination of Trump is 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh. It is believed that Routh was armed with an AK-47 rifle near the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, while Trump was playing golf. Routh reportedly aimed the rifle through a fence when the Secret Service spotted him and fired. Routh managed to flee the scene but was later apprehended in neighboring Martin County.

A LinkedIn profile for Routh shows that he graduated from North Carolina State University in 1998 and later moved to Hawaii. He is currently the owner of Camp Box Honolulu, which builds simple housing structures, affordable housing, and storage facilities. Additionally, Routh's social media page includes posts from 2022 about recruiting American veterans to participate in the war in Ukraine. According to photos, he visited Kyiv during that period.

The media reports that the suspect's social media profiles also contain numerous politically charged posts. For example, he called for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to visit the victims of the first attempt on Trump’s life. He claimed to have voted for Trump in 2016 but withdrew his support later.

Additionally, U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene noted that Ruth appeared in a propaganda video. According to her, the government should have information about all Americans who have visited Ukraine.
