Tengrinews.kz - The Taliban have prohibited women from speaking to other women in public in Afghanistan, according to Bild, a German newspaper.

The Taliban introduced a code of laws aimed at “promoting virtue and eliminating vice.” Under this code, a woman’s voice in public is deemed a “vice.”

The United Nations condemned the new so-called “restrictions on vice and virtue” and expressed concern over their implementation.

Since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan in August 2021, women in the country have been banned from receiving an education, traveling without a male escort, and speaking publicly, particularly with men.

Women are also prohibited from visiting parks, swimming, and participating in any sports. Beauty salons have been shut down, women’s shelters closed, and the law to combat violence against women was repealed.

Earlier, the Taliban also banned political parties in Afghanistan.
