Tengrinews.kz - British singer and former lead vocalist of the well-known British-Irish boy band One Direction, Liam Payne, has died at the age of 31 in Buenos Aires, according to Muz TV.

According to Argentine media, on Wednesday, October 16, the artist fell from his third-floor room balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel. Before the tragedy, an emergency call was made to the police from the hotel, reporting "of an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol."

Emergency services arrived at the scene and noted that the musician had sustained serious injuries, including a suspected skull base fracture, and he passed away before medical personnel could arrive.

An employee of the three-star hotel said that the singer took his own life after reportedly using mephedrone and cocaine. According to her, Liam Payne first lost consciousness in the lobby, then was carried to his room, where he continued using drugs, became hysterical, started shouting, and begged for forgiveness from a woman for his chaotic life. He then smashed a laptop and a television before falling out of the window.

Liam was born on August 29, 1993, in the United Kingdom. The singer rose to fame through his participation in the show The X Factor and subsequently joining the band One Direction. His solo career began with the single Strip That Down in 2017, followed by the release of his debut album lp1 in 2019. Liam Payne is survived by his seven-year-old son.
