Tengrinews.kz - Iran launched a massive missile attack on Israel in response to the deaths of the secretary general of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh, and Abbas Nilforoushan, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Deputy Commander for Operations and the Quds Force. This was reported by the IRGC on the evening of October 1, citing RIA.

"In response to the martyrdom of martyr Ismail Haniyeh, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and martyr Nilforushan, we struck at the heart of the occupied lands," IRGC's statement was quoted by the Iranian news agency ISNA.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the missile launches from Iran on their Telegram channel.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Iran has already fired about 500 rockets, some of which reached Tel Aviv, overcoming the Iron Dome air defense system. Reports indicate direct hits on buildings.

Air raid warning sounded across Israel. Flashes from air defense interceptors were seen in the sky over Tel Aviv, and dozens of explosions thundered over Jerusalem.

According to Israeli TV channel 12, the Jewish state has closed its airspace, with Iraq and Jordan making the same decision.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Joe Biden has ordered US military to provide support to Israel in defending against attacks from Iran.

Iranian news agencies reported on targets hit in Israel as a result of Tehran's massive missile strike.

Shafaqna News Agency claims that Iranian missiles destroyed more than 20 Israeli F-35 aircraft.

Tasnim News Agency reports that the missile strikes hit gas platforms near the Israeli city of Ashkelon.

Iran's state agency Fars, citing an informed source, states that at least 80 percent of Iranian missiles hit their targets during the "first wave of strikes" on Israel. It also notes that a "second wave of strikes" is expected to target Israel.

According to Mehr News Agency, three military bases in the vicinity of Tel Aviv were targeted by Iran.

Meanwhile, IDF announced that the Iranian missile attack had ended, lasting about half an hour.

"We carried out a significant number of interceptions. There were a small number of hits in the centre of Israel, and other hits in Southern Israel," said IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari. He added that there is currently no information about any Israeli casualties.

Media reports suggest that some of the missiles likely reached their targets. So far, at least two people in Tel Aviv have been reported injured with minor shrapnel wounds.

Earlier, on the night of Tuesday, the Israeli army launched a ground operation in southern Lebanon amidst intense air raids and tank shelling of southern areas.
