Tengrinews.kz - US President-elect Donald Trump plans to radically change US policy within hours of taking office. He intends to issue more than 25 key decrees and directives on his first day in office on January 20, according to AOL.
Two sources told the newspaper that Trump told his team he wanted to make a "big splash" with the Day 1 orders, which are expected to dramatically change the US government's policies on immigration, energy and the bureaucracy.
"The American people can bank on President Trump using his executive power on day one to deliver on the promises he made to them on the campaign trail," Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said when asked about the executive order plans.
U.S. presidents often issue executive orders in the first days of their term to fulfill campaign promises and quickly achieve their policy goals without going through the lengthy process of Congressional legislation.
However, these orders can be challenged in court, and generally any money allocated to carry out the orders' mandates must be approved by Congress.
