President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced that he would not be running a campaign as a presidential candidate, the official web site reports. “I won’t be campaigning. My program was voiced in my key note address to the nation. I feel the support of 5 million people who gave their signatures to approve the referendum initiative. I am grateful to all the Kazakhstan people who supported me”, President Nazarbayev told at a meeting with journalists of Kazakhstan media in Akorda, his Presidential Palace in Astana. Nazarbayev stressed that the early election is a sign of respect for the country’ Constitution and democracy principles. The early elections are scheduled for April 3, 2011.
