67-72 percent of Almaty voters are expected to vote during 2011 Kazakhstan presidential elections, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the Almaty Campaign Office of the incumbent President Nursultan Nazarbayev. “52 percent voted during the last presidential elections. This year we are expecting the turnout to be 15-20 percent higher,” said Rakhman Alshanov, head of the office. There have been no strong protests in Almaty and the voters are in a good mood. 467 representatives of Nur Otan Party and an observers’ commission from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be observing the coming elections. There are around 500 polling stations in Almaty and around 220 in Astana that will be welcoming Kazakhstan citizens on April 3.
