Tengrinews.kz - US President-elect Donald Trump said that Lebanese-American businessman Massad Boulos will serve as a senior adviser on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs, according to the Voice of America.
Trump reported this on his social network Truth Social.
Boulos is the father-in-law of Trump’s daughter Tiffany and has met with Arab and Muslim leaders on numerous occasions during Trump’s campaign, which he has been heavily involved with in recent months.
Boulos’ father and grandfather were prominent figures in Lebanese politics. His son Michael and Tiffany Trump were married in November 2022 at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in Florida. The couple got engaged in the White House Rose Garden during Trump’s first term.
"Boulos has been in touch with interlocutors across Lebanon’s multipolar political world, three sources who spoke to him in recent months say, a rare feat in Lebanon, where decades-old rivalries between factions run deep," the material says.
Aron Lund, a research fellow at the Century Foundation, believes that Boulos, who played a major role in expanding the president-elect's support among Arab and Muslim voters during the campaign, could have a significant impact on Trump's Middle East policy.
The publication notes that this is not the first time Trump has nominated an in-law for public office.
He previously announced that he would appoint Jared Kushner's father, real estate magnate Charles Kushner, as the US ambassador to France. Jared Kushner is married to the president-elect's eldest daughter Ivanka Trump.
Earlier, Donald Trump nominated Pam Bondi as a new candidate for the position of attorney general.
