Growth of immigration to Kazakhstan from Central Asian countries may cause ethnicity-based crime groups to emerge in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing an analyst of Kazakhstan Association of Near-Border Cooperation Marat Shibutov as saying in the Club meeting of the Institute of Political Solutions (IPS). As per the United Nations' forecast for 2025 and 2050, Kazakhstan's population will reach 17 million people in 2017 and will make only 18 million by 2050. At the same time population of Uzbekistan will grow from 33 to 36 million in the same period. Kyrgyzstan's population will grow by 500 thousand people in 25 years (from 2025): from 6.3 to 6.8 million. Tajikistan's population will increase from 9 to 11 million people, Shibutov said. “Such demographic correlation and open Kazakhstan's borders may cause a major migration and as a result we will see lots of migrants who will create enclaves and ethnic crime groups. That's why we need to boost birth rate, improve life quality and, possibly, introduce dual citizenship with strictly banning migrants from holding positions in state bodies and national companies,” he noted. Earlier Shibutov said that analysis of the country's demography showed that historically people migrated to Kazakhstan either forcedly, or as emigrees, or under special programs. With the lack of such factors, there has been an outflow of people from Kazakhstan starting from the second half of the 20th century. This causes bad life conditions and wrong demographic orientations. According to him, people in Kazakhstan “get married later and give birth to less children”.
