A terrorism threat will remain and grow in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports from the conference called Consolidation of the community and the state in countering terrorism: new approaches and principles in Astana. “International and local experts state that the terrorism threat will be a long-term one and a tendency for its further growth will remain,” head of Anti-terrorist Center of Kazakhstan National Security Commission said. According to him, Kazakhstan had been the country with no signs of terrorism for a long time. “But it doesn’t mean that we have had no preconditions for terrorist attacks. We managed to disrupt all the intentions and plans of the religious radicals until 2011. 11 violent campaigns were prevented and the activities of 18 extremist groups were suppressed last year,” the representative of Kazakhstan anti-terrorist center said and noted that the works were enhanced to further increasing the level of anti-terrorist security of over 11 thousand of vulnerable objects in the country. Deputy head of anti-extremism department of the criminal police commission of Kazakhstan Interior Department stated that 15 criminal cases were initiated this year against those inspiring inter-ethnic and inter-religious grudge and hatred. “137 facts of storage and withdrawal of disruptive religious and extremist literature, audio and video records were registered last year.
