Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrissov considers the situation in Syria a direct threat to the international stability, while its administration "missed numerous opportunities to meet the lawful strives of its people halfway", Tengrinews.kz reports as reference to the Ministry's press-service citing Idrissov as saying at the 39th session of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Islamic Organization for Cooperation (OIC) in Djibouti. "The conflict is becoming more and more militarized and the violence turned into a dominating factor of the Syrians' daily life. The humanitarian situation is deteriorating every day, the country is in a catastrophic civil war that Syrian people are paying a high price for," he said. Besides, Idrissov stressed that Kazakhstan supports all efforts aimed for peaceful settlement of the crisis in Syria. "The activities of the UN and the Arab league Envoy Brahimi are very significant. We believe that the only way for all involved parties to demonstrate their adherence to a peaceful resolution is to stop the military supplies both to the government and opposition, as well as calling all parties of the conflict to negotiate on Syria's peaceful future based on the dialog and broad participation of Syrian people," Kazakhstan Foreign Minister added. He also noted that Kazakhstan allocated $200 thousand to help meet the needs of Syrian refugees as a sign of the country's adherence to rendering humanitarian aid to Syria under the OIC.
