On December 22 Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting on restoration of Zhanaozen, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the President’s official website. “The President noted that special government commission, headed by deputy Prime-Minister Umirzak Shukeyev and formed upon the President’s instruction, went to Mangistau oblast, met with the residents and checked the situation in the town. The government approved a special plan of actions on elimination of the consequences of the riots and restoration of the town. The government allocated over 3 billion tenge ($20 million) for this purpose,” the President’s press-service states. The meeting was attended by Prime-Minister, chairman of the Senate, head of the President’s Administration and heads of other state authorities. “The President emphasized that the situation is currently stable in the town. Administration bodies are functioning normally. Head of the President’s Administration Aslan Mussin informed the President on the status of implementation of the instructions given at the meeting of Kazakhstan Security Council on December 17,” the President’s official website writes. Umirzak Shukeyev informed the President on the work of the special commission on operative solution of social-economic, humanitarian and other problems arising from the clashes in Mangistau oblast. General Prosecutor reported on the course of investigation on organizers of Zhanaozen riots. Nursultan Nazarbayev made several instructions in the end of the meeting.
