Akim (Governor) of Aktobe oblast Arkhimed Mukhambetov addressed the residents in relation to the recently released information about Wahhabis planning to sacrifice 100 people, Tengrinews.kz reports citing vaktobe.kz. According to Akim, there has not been much information about extremist manifestations in the region recently. “We are using all the opportunities to stabilize the situation, but there should be no panic,” the Akim said at the meeting with the journalists. "The information that Aktobe Wahhabis will sacrifice 100 people is groundless and the ones who published it have to give reference to the source." Makhambetov also added that employees for mosques will be selected more carefully from now on. Information that Wahhabis are intending to sacrifice people appeared on August 9 on one of the websites. The message said that at the end of the holy month Ramadan Aktobe Wahhabis are planning to sacrifice 20 children, 30 women and 50 men. Ramadan, a Muslim month of fasting which is usually considered a month of peace, forgiving and mercy, will finish on August 30 this year.
