Nazarbayev calls Kazakhstan to save 2.5% energy every year
Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan, said at the joint session of the Kazakhstan Parliament in Astana on September 2:
"New energy use traditions should be formed nation-wide both in the country’s economy and in the everyday lives of our citizens.
"You know that with my decree I have approved the Concept of Transition to the Green Economy, but before transitioning to the Green Economy we must learn to save.
"We have very old productive facilities that are unable to save energy. To meet the energy efficiency goals that I have set for the year 2020 we should reduce our energy consumption by 2.5% every year, and by 3.5% after the year 2020.
"This way we will first make our industries energy efficient and simultaneously we will be transitioning to the Green Economy."
