Nazarbayev rearranges Kazakh government
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has unveiled a new structure of the Kazakhstan government on August 6, 2014. “We need to create an effective system of public administration. We need a compact government," he said. The new Government consists of 12 ministers and about 30 committees instead of 17 ministries, 9 agencies, 54 committees and 272 departments. The reorganization produced a huge energy ministry and a large economic ministry, and disbanded the country's major security agency, the Financial Police.
