Roof of a large Shymkent plant caught fire in the afternoon on March 31, One of the factory's departments produced paint, varnish and lacquer materials so the roof fire could easily turn into factory fire. Bitumen coating of the roof was on fire and the flames were spreading fast. Clouds of pitch black smoke could be seen from half Shymkent away.
It took firefighters 3 hours to harness the fire. There were no casualties.
