The expedition Following Shoqan Walikhanov’s Caravan Route continues its journey to Kashgaria. After visiting Turpan, the team arrived in Karashahar. After resting here for some time, the team from Kazakhstan was on its way to the highest mountain freshwater lake in China - Bosten Lake that is known both for its majestic views and for the rich fauna. It was hard to leave this place, so the expedition reached the next destination on their route only late into the night. The city of Korla is the geographic center of Xinjiang and has various historical sites, including a historically significant old mosque in the city center. After that the expedition visited a “shifting” lake and a relict forest.
