The Senate has requested the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan to provide an official interpretation of the Article 41 of the Constitution on early presidential elections.
Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan Yerbolat Dossayev said that the government envisioned spending 5 bln tenge on the presidential election next year.
Bloggers' Alliance of Kazakhstan believes that Kazakhstan does not need early election but needs a referendum to extend the term of office of the incumbent President.
According to the Board members, amidst the intensifying global economic crisis an early election would enable to efficiently implement the Nurly-Zhol anti-crisis program and to further pursue the long-term priorities set by the Kazakhstan-2050 National Development Strategy.
