Zulfiya Chinshanlo has shown her Kazakhstan passport to the media and refuted all rumors about her leaving Kazakhstan national team and gaining Chinese citizenship back. “This is not true. I came back to Kazakhstan (from China) and proved to everyone that I remain a Kazakhstan citizen,” the sportswoman told BlogPost show on October 28. Earlier Chinadaily.com wrote that the sportswoman allegedly promised to participate in Rio-2016 Olympics as a member of Chinese national team. Zulfiya Chinshanlo - an ethnic Chinese whose Chinese name is Zhao Changling - has already regained her Chinese citizenship and received a second-generation resident ID in her native province Hunan (Central China), Chinese media wrote. However, Secretary General of Kazakhstan Weightlifting Federation Mendykhan Tapsir refuted the rumor that the Olympic gold-winners Zulfiya Chinshanlo and Maya Maneza were leaving Kazakhstan national team. “Chinshanlo and Maneza left to China for vacation. It is impossible that they will represent China. We still count on them at world’s major tournaments. We will try to find out where the Chinese media got this wrong information from,” Tapsir said.
