Kazakhstan’s number one tennis player Zarina Diyas has made it to the main draw of the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open in China, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
In the first round of the qualifying draw, Diyas won over Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea. In the following round, Diyas played against Spanish tennis player Silvia Soler-Espinosa and won 6:2 and 6:3 in two sets. In the second set, Silvia Soler-Espinosa had a chance to level the scores, but Diyas managed to win six games straight.
The 20 y.o. tennis player is ranked 40th in the WTA singles ranking. Diyas went up in the ranking after her successful performance at the US Open 2014, where she reached the third round.
The Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open opened its first edition this year. The tournament is a part of the WTA Premier 5 series of the 2014 WTA Tour. It will take place from September 21 to 27 in Wuhan, China. The tournament promises $2,440,070 in prize money.
