Kazakhstani tennis player Zarina Diyas has improved her standing in the WTA rating after the WTA Japan Open, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.
After making it into the final of the tournament in Osaka, Diyas ranked 34th. In the final, Diyas faced the tournament's defending champion Samatha Stosur from Australia. Stosur defended her Osaka title by defeating the Kazakh tennis player 7:6 and 6:3 in two sets. As a result, Diyas' rating reached 1140 points. Diyas got to the final of a WTA tournament for the first time in her career.
Other Kazakhstani tennis player Yaroslava Shvedova went down in the rating to the 68th place. Yuliya Putintseva went up 12 lines to the 110th place.
Serena Williams holds her first place in the WTA rating. The American tennis player is followed by Maria Sharapova. Simona Halep from Romania is in the 3rd place in the WTA rating.
