Ward’s legal adviser Josh Dubin and his manager James Prince see nothing standing in the way of a Ward-Golovkin fight. In their response to Golovkin’s manager Oleg Hermann, Ward’s team stated that there were no legal issues between Ward and his promoter Dan Goossen.
“Ward files lawsuits, calls for a fight, but he does not come out to the ring – and that’s the problem. No on knows how long it’s all going to last. Yes Andre Ward says he is ready, but Gennady is also ready to discuss (a potential fight),” Hermann told Allboxing.ru.
“The reason they are running for cover, in our opinion, is because they know as soon as he steps in the ring with Andre Ward – the party if over (…) no more being able to sell the people these ridiculous fantasies that he is somewhere in the same (class) as “Sugar” Ray Robinson. The fight can be made. All they have to do is pick up the phone,” Dubin said.
Golovkin will face interim WBC middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio on October 18 in Los Angeles in a unification fight.
