This trophy is awarded to best weightlifters based on their performances during one year. Fans from all over the world voted for the weightlifters and Kazakhstan’s Zulfiya Chinshanlo and Iranian Behdad Salimikordasiabi became the winners this year. The results of the voting were announced in February, but the Federation awarded the athletes with their prizes only these days. Zulfiya was invited to take part in the Congress of the International Weightlifting Federation that was held as part of the World Youth Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. The award was triumphantly presented to Zulfiya in the presence of several dozens of delegates from all over the world. Iran’s Behdad Salimikordasiabi, who was ahead of Kazakhstan’s Ilya Ilyin by the results of the voting, was unable to come to Tashkent and Iran’s president of the Weightlifting Federation got the award for him. “It is so nice to get the award finally,” Zulfiya Chinshanlo said. “It is my first time in Tashkent and I will stay here for two more days to cheer for our guys at the World Championship!” Kazakhstan weightlifters took part in the World Youth Weightlifting Championship held in Uzbekistan’s city of Tashkent on April 8-11.
